What a mean Firebird

That is not just a “Firebird”. That is a Firebird Trans Am WS-6. That was the top of the food chain when I was in college (with the exception of the ultra-rare Firehawk).

The WS-6 was a handling package for an already phenomanal car correct?

Handling, sound, appearance, and a little bit of power.
WS6 was an RPO that could be applied to any V8 Firebird- so it could be on a Formula or a Trans Am. A Formula WS6 is pretty rare.

Yeah, and they’re lighter than the Trans Ams, and a little more stealthy.

I’d take a Formula Firehawk over the Trans Am Firehawk. They’re just so clean.

Sunset Orange Metallic Formula Firehawk is even more rare! And also my dream car.

A Formula V8 WS6 T-top would be awesome, save the obligatory 90’s GM build quality.
I have a family member with a V6 Firebird of this vintage, and it is down for significant service several times a year for significant component failures, including the chip-enabled key ignition system, and he’s is an automotive tech for a living who knows about car maintenance.

VATS is a PITA. Tell him to do both things- disable the relay and disable the chip in the key.

I want a Formula WS6. All the goodies but just a little more shall we say dignified

I have always loved the final Firebirds. The most bad ass American muscle car made from 1972-2007

Most of the time people heave all of the WS6 stuff other than the hood as it is. If you don’t care about original just get a Formy and add the hood.

Like they modify a Formula to make a WS6?

Basically all of the “stock” WS6 stuff other than the hood is MEH at best, and gets heaved for aftermarket stuff pretty quickly.
If you don’t care about originality, want a louder exhaust, more power, aftermarket wheels and tires, and tubular suspension components (as MANY do) all the WS6 stuff is not worth paying for.
